This Is The Cold That Never Ends...

It just goes on and on, my friends!!

I have been sick since last Friday, so going on a week now. It seems much longer, actually. It started with a horrible sore throat, then moved into my sinuses. There was/is stuffy nose, earache, dry hacky cough, which morphed into horrible croupy bronchitis-type cough, and headaches and fatigue everyday. I tell ya, it has truly been FUN!! (The cold was unable to defeat my sarcasm, ha!)

Anyway, I am still feeling crummy today, but it seems to be on its way out. But now poor Brian is sick. Ugh. We all feeble and stuff.

So, earlier this week, we went out to get some soup because that's really all I felt like eating and I sure didn't feel like cooking. So we went to Ming's, our most favoritest Chinese restaurant. It's awesome! Anyway, we got our food and then, on the way home, were just riding and talking when all of a sudden, we heard this loud "THUD!!".

We were both like, "what was that" and I looked out my (passenger side) window to see this big green blob on the side of the car. We had been hit with a paintball!

We really couldn't believe it. We were on a busy road (for those of you who know Macon, it was Zebulon Road) in a residential area!! We were pretty sure it came from a patch of trees next to some houses. We called the Sheriff's Department and they sent out a nice Deputy to talk to us and see the car. He went to try and find out who did it, but we haven't heard whether or not he was able to. I doubt it.

Anyway, so thankfully, there wasn't any permanent damage. We rinsed it when we got home, but upon inspection the next morning, there was still some film on it. So we took the car for a good car wash and everything came off. But you just never know what kind of crazy, random thing might happen when you're just innocently driving along in your car. Gah!!

Well, I think that's about all the excitement I've had for the week. Hope you're all having a better one!

Wickedly Awesome Day

I am having a hard time coming up with the words to describe the awesomeness that was Wicked yesterday. We went to the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta with a few friends to see the show last night.

We weren't allowed to take pictures while the play was going on, but here are some we snapped outside before we went in:

This is the Fox marquee. That tree is SO in the way, but this is the best shot I could get without walking out into Peachtree Street during rush hour traffic. Uh, no.

Here we are, inside the theatre, seated and waiting for the show to start. This is Brian and me.

And our friend, Billy and his mom, Kathy.

Here is my sister, Ginger, and me.

Ok, so then the show started. I was completely ENTHRALLED from the first moment. It was completely and utterly AMAZING. Katie Rose Clarke as Galinda (Glinda) and Carmen Cusack as Elphaba were just both so talented beyond words. Here's a pic I found online of them:

I got pretty emotional several times during the show and teared up a little because I was just in complete AWE at the performances and vocal abilities, let alone the actual story line. Carmen Cusack was definitely my favorite vocalist. That girl is just, WOW. Unbelievable.

Anyway, the whole cast was perfect and wonderful and so amazingly talented. I could watch them every night and never get tired of them.

So the show ended, and we walked outside. Here is a pic of our whole group. From left to right: Ginger, Brian, me, Kathy, Billy, and Trish.

After our group split up to leave (Billy, Kathy and Trish were in the same car), Brian, Ginger and I hung behind and went back into the Fox to take more pics.

Outside the Fox, the musical's semi trailer (well, ONE of them, anyway--the show travels in EIGHTEEN semi-trucks!) was parked, and I had to get pictures of it!
This is Ginger and me in front of it.

And Brian and me.

And here's the girls, close up.

Here, I tried to get the whole trailer in the shot, but cut Glinda off a little.

This is a display window they had set up outside the front of the Fox. It was pretty cool.

And here are a couple pics I took of the Wicked poster in display windows.

I had SO much fun at this show. If you haven't seen it, GO! You will LOVE it. Wicked is the absolute best thing I have EVER seen. I have been to many, many concerts and other shows/plays, but this is by far the most amazing thing and most wonderful experience ever.

I'm still in awe. Anyway, just wanted to share my Wicked Day! <|:-)

The Heat Is On!

In my house!! We turned the heat on last night, y'all. It was in the 30s overnight! I am so excited. I love this time of year. Highs in the 70s and lows in the 30s/40s.

Well, this week is Wicked Week!! We go to the musical in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre on Wednesday! I can't wait! I'm trying to finish the book before we go, but it's not looking good. I'm only a few chapters in and I have a day and a half!! So it might not happen.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

New Stuff!!

Happy Saturday!

Here are some new layouts I did this week.

This first one is to document our recent gas shortage! It was really surreal to see this gas station marquee all zeroed out, with no gas to sell!

And here is a LO of Sleepy, back in September when she injured her paw. She was "Sleepy Bluepaw" for several days! :)

And here is a LO of Black Kitty enjoying the sunshine by the back door. I used Stickles on the edges of the clouds, because every cloud should have a Stickled lining!! :)

Heading down to my parents' house this afternoon for my brother's 40th birthday supper.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Our Hearts Are Home

I did a layout to document buying our house.

We have rented this house for 5 years, always with the option to buy it. When it was time for us to get a loan, we actually got approved for $50,000 more than this house is worth. So, we could've gone looking for "something bigger and better", but decided that this is just home to us. We had to stay where so many memories are and we look forward to many more years in our home. I wanted to use something other than the usual "Home Is Where The Heart Is", so I chose "Our Hearts Are Home" because that's how we felt when it was time to choose what house to buy. Our hearts are here, so we knew it was the right choice.

The journaling reads:
Brian and I rented this house for 5 years. When it was time for us to buy a house, there was no other house we wanted. This was and is Home.

Hope you're all having a great week! It's almost the weekend! :)

Hairdryer Heaven Can Wait

So, today, I had a dentist appointment to have a chipped filling fixed. My appointment was at 2:15, so I didn't start getting ready to go until after noon. I always blow-dry and fix my hair last. Today, when I went into the bathroom to blow-dry my hair, I got a very unpleasant surprise.

I switched on my hairdryer, and nothing. I fiddled with the outlet, thinking the GFCI button had been pressed accidentally. Nope. Didn't work. I then alternated between pressing the GFCI and turning the dryer on and off many, many times. At this point, I was just in denial--a night light plugged into the same outlet was working just fine, so that told me the outlet was fine. But I persisted. It just couldn't be my hairdryer!! After trying a different outlet out of desperation, I finally called it. My hairdryer was dead.

I should now say a few words about my hairdryer. I love it. No, I don't think you understand--I luuuuuuuuurrrrvvvveee it. I have had it for about 3 years, and before I bought it, I had one JUST LIKE IT for about that same length of time. I have never wanted to try a different brand or model or anything. When it was time to replace it the first time, I bought one just like it because, did I mention? I LOOOOOOOOOOVE it. OK. Anyway.

Here is a picture of it, caked with dust and hairspray from years of loving use. War scars, if you will. It marched into battle each day with gusto.

This hairdryer has seen me at my worst, and at my best. It has helped me have good hair days, and has tried to help me when it was a bad hair day. It has helped perfect my bangs (NO cracks permitted, people!). I MUST use a hairdryer to get the no-crack bangs.

And today it failed me. No warning, no smoke, no overheating on previous uses, nothing. It just DIED. And I was sad.

So, anyway, today--here I am, with 20 minutes until I need to walk out the door to go to my dentist appointment, and I had no hairdryer. THE HORROR!! I didn't have a back-up hairdryer because that one was so awesome, and I didn't have time to go to the store and get another one and come back home and still make it to the appointment on time. So, I literally sat in front of a fan and dried my hair. Y'all. I was roughing it. For once, I was actually glad I have thin hair.

After about 10 minutes of that, my hair was dry enough to style. Thankfully, my bangs were somewhat cooperative and I was able to fix my hair and get out of the house in time, although there were some cracks. I was sad, but I went. (The dentist appointment went very well and fast, he just fixed that filling and no Novocaine was needed or anything! Yay!)

I stopped by Wal-Mart (BOO! HISS!!) on the way home and they did not have the Conair Euro. I am figuring Conair doesn't make it anymore, but I'm still going to look at Target the next time we go. I ended up getting a new shiny Revlon one. It better perform as good as it looks.

So, goodbye, old Conair Euro. You will be missed. I will place you in a cabinet corner until I have come to terms with your passing, and then I will send you to Hairdryer Heaven.

(Y'all do know I'm totally doing a layout about this, right? :-))

Beatrice Is Funny

First, I have a layout of Beatrice and Sleepy playing in their IKEA tent. They love it sooo much! We're going to pick up another one (or two) the next time we go to IKEA.

I based this layout on Pencil Lines Sketch # 104. It is really a scraplift of Tracie's interpretation of that sketch. I just LOVED how she did the dot circle and had to try it!!

Anyway, so today Beatrice met a box she didn't like. Well, actually, she DID like it, but she couldn't fit in it, and that really hurt her feelings. Beatrice loves boxes almost as much as she loves milk rings. This picture is so funny (and kind of pitiful) because she looks so distraught, and she's looking up at me as if to say, "Make this box bigger so I can fit--HELP ME!!". Poor kitty.

In other news, the weather here is so nice right now. I say "right now" because I know it'll get hot again soon. But, right now, we're having highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s/50s!! I'm a happy girl!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! :)
