My Goodness What A Crazy Week And It's Only Wednesday!
Wow, this week is insane.
First, it's my last week to get all my Scrap n' Art projects done for the September/October issue. I need to turn mine in by the 10th because I'm new to the DT. They are all done and I just finished up the last one this afternoon. It's really cool, but you'll just have to wait until September to see it. :D Oh, and it's definitely NOT a scrapbook layout. :D :D
In other news this week...
On Monday, my Daddy went in for a heart cath. Everything turned out fine; he didn't need any additional stents put in since a year ago when he had his heart attack. We were so thankful everything looked ok!
Then, yesterday (Tuesday), our central air unit stopped working at about 5:30 PM. Thankfully, it rained and that cooled the house down a bit. Brian called his Dad and his Dad said he thought he knew what it was and that he'd be up here early this morning to look at it and probably fix it. So, last night it was about 78 degrees in the house.
Y'all.
I am a 68-70 degrees kind of girl. I like to be COLD. If it is too cold in the house, I will get a blanket before I will turn the air up to a not-as-cold temperature. I'm so hardcore.
But, last night was not unbearable. We had every fan available blowing on us.
Anyway, I was thinking, there is no way this is going to be fixed as easily and quickly as he is saying. It's just our luck. But, he came up here, looked at it, and told us what part it needed. We called around to some supply places, and found one in stock. So, we drove over, picked it up for $36, and came home. He installed it, secured some wires, and voila! Cold air once again.
That man is totally a ROCK STAR.
We thanked him PROFUSELY and he was just glad to be able to help us.
So, this morning it was a roasty 79, nearing 80 degrees in the house, and now it is a wonderful, frigid 70. And that is more awesome than I can even tell you.
Anyway, I am kind of scared to see what the rest of the week holds. At the very least, it will be a bit busy. I need to run some errands tomorrow and then, on Friday, my niece turns 18 (wow, I'm old), and we're having a party for her.
So, hope you're having a calmer week!!

New Layouts
I got some non-DT layouts done this weekend! Yay! We spent a quiet weekend at home and did as close to nothing as possible. It was awesome!!
Tomorrow, my Daddy goes into the hospital to have a stent placed in his heart. The holiday weekend was exactly a year ago that he had a heart attack and had to have stents placed then, too. Please say a prayer for him and our family!
Here is what I've been up to.
This is Black Kitty.

Journaling:
Black Kitty is usually a very sweet girl who doesn't get into trouble. But, every once in a while, she seems to completely change her character and behavior for a day. It's bizarre. We like to call a day like this "Defiant Day". She seems to do all the things she knows she is not supposed to do, like she needs to "get it out of her system" all at once. On this Defiant Day, she:
1. Bit and chewed on the leaves of a silk topiary.
2. Snuck into the bedroom, walked all over the bed (we try to keep her off due to our allergies), and hid under it!
3. While in the bedroom, she got into the closet (Forbidden Land!) and got all up in Brian's clothes.
4. When she was questioned later about her behavior, she smirked at me and gave me the stink-eye!
********** *********** **************
This is Brian and Jake Shimabukuro, a REALLY AWESOME ukulele player. We recently got to see him in concert and meet him afterward.

I got Brian to do the journaling on this one and I just copied it.
Journaling:
(Brian says:) "When I found out about Jake Shimabukuro coming within driving distance for a concert, I was ecstatic. The video of him playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is what inspired me to take up playing ukulele. I was thrilled to see him play live at The Red Light Cafe in Atlanta. It was a very small venue and an intimate show. I was floored at the chance to meet him. Meeting Jake was a highlight of my life. He seemed touched that he was the inspiration for me to learn my 1st instrument."
The video Brian mentions is here.
He is AWESOME!! I hope we get to see him in concert again someday.
That's about it. Have a good week!

Sharesies!
This is an exciting week! Wednesday, July 1st is the debut of the next issue of Scrap n' Art! And it is no ordinary issue! This upcoming issue will be the first issue with the snazzy new format! It is really awesome! I think Scrap n' Art readers, fans and newcomers alike will really, really LOVE this new format. You'll need to subscribe to view it (which is also a new change), but at only $9.99 a year (for six issues), it is a real steal! And you definitely will not be disappointed! It is packed with inspiration, projects, layouts, tips, articles and chances to win prizes, plus so much more (a subscription also includes exclusive web content for subscribers!)! So, please check it out! :D
I've been super-busy getting projects done for the NEXT issue of Scrap n' Art (September/October), which is when I'll make my Design Team Debut. But I do have three layouts coming up in the July/August issue! :D
I am sharing some layouts I did for the Scrap n' Art Blog below.
The first one is of Ginger, and this layout was for the "Negative Space Becomes Positive" Challenge. I used a butterfly die-cut paper as both a stencil (to make the white butterflies with acrylic paint), and as an element on the page, just as I would have used patterned paper. This was fun to do! (A fun fact: I included that strip of numbers from some October Afternoon Cherry Hill paper because it has both a 67 and a 77, which are our birth years. Just a little sisterly connection thing I wanted to put on there.)

This next one was for the Scrap n' Art Blog's "Monochromatic Masterpieces" Challenge. It was challenging, yet fun, to do a layout with shades of just ONE color! I used pictures of my parents' beautiful backyard garden.

Have a great week!
