Brian and I went to Lowe's last night and I stumbled across some big metal barn stars (and have seen many altered in beautiful ways!). Each metal star had a cardboard divider that was the exact size and mold and shape of the metal stars. I grabbed a couple and took them to the register to ask if I could have them. They gave them to me! So, now I have two huge (34 inches across!) cardboard barn stars to alter and love and enjoy. And I will be creating art from something that would have otherwise gone to the landfill. (Ginger will LOVE this!) :D Yay!
The cardboard is pretty sturdy, but I will probably hot-glue a few dowel rods on the back for extra support and to give it a way to be hung.
Anyway, if you have a Lowe's near you, check it out for some of these!

Oh, wow!! I cannot wait to see what you do with them!!! And I DO love the fact that you saved 'em from a landfill!!!! You so crafty AND earthy!!!
OOOH cool! I will have to check that out at my Lowes! How exciting. And I love that you love my little owl. He looks so cute on your mantle! :)
Awesome!!! Fa score, can't wait to see how you snazz them up!
Great find. I will have to check this weekend at my Lowes. Please be sure to post what you do with them. If you look on SB.com and search for an "altered barn star" there might be some ideas. I have one in my favorites. Here is a link, if it will work.
